Another interesting and provocative book is Victor Johnston's "Why We Feel: The Science of Human Emotions." At least Johnston's theory of consciousness is novel, and his handling of emotions is much more on target. Levi is a powerful character, despite never appearing on page. I'd recommend it if it's your first entry in the series, but it may also set the bar too high - especially when crap like the Fear of Music book found their way into the series..
